These flexible black plastic irrigation hoses are easy to bend and install. They are so flexible that they can take a beating and even survive frost without cracking. But how do you know which diameter of polyethylene&nbsp;hose is the right one?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if you opt for a diameter that is too thin? The flow of the water goes awry and there is a good chance that you will experience a loss of pressure. The higher the pressure in the pipes and the longer the pipe length, the higher the pressure loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if you opt for a pipe that is too large? It is likely that there is not directly a problem, but it will cost you more. And that\u2019s a waste, of course!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Polyethylene\/PE pipe diameter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calculating the right diameter depends on pressure loss, flow rate, length and material. Luckily, we at TimaFlex have already made a handy table for you! This shows the maximum flow in m\u00b3\/hour per diameter at a maximum pressure loss of 0.5 Bar over a distance of 30 metres. It is also useful to choose polyethylene hoses of equal diameter for your entire project. It saves you time to determine how much length you need and of what diameter. And this way you can easily use leftover bits in other areas of your project and thus reduce your waste.
