Frequently Asked Questions

Polyethylene tubing, or LDPE tubes, are plastic hoses commonly used for irrigation and water drainage, among other uses. The acronym LDPE stands for Low-Density PolyEthene, highlighting the main advantage of these hoses — their soft texture makes them easy to bend. Besides its flexibility, it is still a robust, water-repellent, insulating, and durable material. Perfect for practical purposes! Read all about LDPE tubes here

As you buy directly from us, that means a price advantage for you! We produce our own polyethylene tubing.

There are KIWA-approved and unapproved polyethylene tubes. Approved hoses are usually suitable for drinking water. The unapproved ones are not. At Tuinflex.nl, we produce and sell the unapproved polyethylene tubing variant.

For guidance on selecting the proper size, please check out our blog post addressing the question: how do I choose the appropriate diameter polyethylene tubing?

PE-40 polyethylene tubing, or LDPE (Low-Density PolyEthylene), is a soft, flexible plastic hose that can be easily bent into the desired shape. It has a slightly thicker wall than the PE-100 variety.

PE-100, also called HDPE (High-Density PolyEthylene), is a more rigid variant with a thinner wall thickness than PE-40. The thin wall thickness makes this hose cheaper. But beware: installation is difficult because of the rigidity. At Tuinflex.nl, we like convenience and simplicity. This is why we only offer PE-40.

Are you installing the water hose underground to keep it flowing even in winter? Then maintain a depth of 65 centimeter. With a frost line of 60 centimeters, you can be sure it won’t freeze. By the way, polyethylene tubing is frost-resistant. So no frost damage will occur to the polyethylene line.

Polyethylene tubing is super safe and sustainable. PE-40 is one of the most widely used plastics because of its flexibility, toughness, insulating properties, and being water-repellent. So you can trust Tuinflex.nl polyethylene tubing to make your piping system safe and reliable!

Polyethylene tubing is like a cat with nine lives but for materials! Polyethylene tubing from Tuinflex.nl is made from a plastic already on its second, third, or even fourth life. This is because LDPE is 100% recyclable and lasts for decades!

So not only are our polyethylene tubes super durable, but they’re also environmentally friendly. Who doesn’t love to contribute to saving the planet?

Now more than ever, sustainability is a crucial issue we must address. And let me tell you, we are on a mission to save the world. First of all, we are a gasless company! No gas emissions here – we get all our electricity from “green” sources. We even purchased solar panels, making us about 66% percent self-sufficient in our energy needs. The remainder? Green electricity as well, of course! Read all about our sustainability practices at Tuinflex.nl here.
